Kanchan Jha is a successful entrepreneur, community leader and Emmy-nominated journalist. He has a strong record of leadership in the not-for-profit sector, development and media. Kanchan is the founder and CEO of Sano Paila (A Little Step), a member-based, development-oriented, non-profit organization that has a 13-year proud history of bringing Nepali people forward, empowering them and developing their skills to solve their own problems, as well as solve challenges in their own communities. Its focus areas span from youth empowerment, drug rehabilitation, to health improvement and advocacy, peacebuilding, crime prevention and reformation, anti-trafficking and child protection, access to education, livelihood enhancement, and crisis response.

His years of hard work and dedication as a social entrepreneur has earned him numerous awards and recognitions both nationally and internationally. He was nominated for International EMMY Awards 2016 in the category of News & Current Affairs for the coverage of Nepal Earthquake 2015 and its aftermath on Al Jazeera English. In 2010 Foundation for Youth Social Entrepreneurship, Hong Kong awarded him as Asia’s top 100 “most inspiring young entrepreneurs and social changemakers”.

Kanchan also serves as the Interim CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of PDL Consulting Group, an innovative team of entrepreneurial minds that drive synergies between private sector, development sector, political sector, and the civil society to achieve development innovation.
